In this edition of our Committee of Management (CoM) Blog Series, we speak with Dr Kelly Hine, ANZSOC’s Treasurer in her third term.

With a strong commitment to financial transparency and inclusivity, Kelly has been instrumental in steering the society toward more accessible and accountable financial practices. From streamlining how committee members engage with financial information to helping shape initiatives that directly benefit our members, her work reflects the values at the heart of ANZSOC.

What accomplishment are you most proud of since joining the ANZSOC CoM?

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of since joining the ANZSOC CoM as Treasurer is ensuring financial transparency as well as being part of a team that introduced several initiatives to make the society more financially accessible. This has made it easier for committee members to access relevant financial information and allowed us to better allocate resources toward initiatives that benefit our members.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your role on the committee?

The most rewarding aspect of my role has been collaborating with a passionate group of criminology professionals and seeing the tangible impact our efforts have on the society and its members.

What initiatives or projects are you most excited to work on in the coming term?

In the coming term, I’m particularly excited to explore new opportunities for funding and sponsorship that will support innovative projects and events, ensuring ANZSOC continues to grow and serve the criminology community.

Dr. Kelly Hine

Dr. Kelly Hine is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s School of Law and Society. Her research centers on front-line policing practices and police-citizen interactions, including decision-making processes, use of force, and police technology. Kelly’s expertise also covers police misconduct and integrity. She is the Program Coordinator for Criminology and Criminal Justice at UniSC and has served as the Assistant Deputy Head of School (Research). Since 2021, she has been the Treasurer for ANZSOC.
